Some cool tattoo equipment images:

When I asked this guy if I could take a picture of his tattoo, he seemed a bit, "well, uhm, ok, i guess?" which is perfectly understandable since the area in which I took this (Ma Tau Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong) sees very few white folks walking around taking pictures, especially compared to other, more popular parts of Hong Kong. He works at a local recycling plant, and when I mimed that I wanted to take his picture, he thought I meant that I wanted to take a picture of the equipment behind him. After I explained myself, he let me take a couple of pictures of him. (Press the right arrow button to see the other one.) As I left, his coworkers were teasing him, one of them going so far as to tug on the nipple around which the tattoo is. Incidentally, I took another picture of this guy’s back tattoo a few days ago.

[antisocial] graces

In 18th century France it was perfectly acceptable for wealthy married gentlemen to keep a mistress. It was however frowned upon to allow them to meet socially, although I think that rule still stands. This all stems from a series of books that I’m currently reading
This is a composite of two images shot at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin. I had planned to do the shoot in the formal gardens but unfortunately after two and a half hours of makeup and styling, a storm blew in forcing us to run for cover in the courtyard. I wanted to give the feeling of a painting and the strange light on the day sort of helped. I am no expert at photoshop so merging the two images was a lot harder than I thought.
Model on the day was the amazing Melissa, who I can still picture hunched over in the back seat of the car in a huge pompadour wig!
The dresses in this shot were made from scratch by Bronwyn Teggin and the wonderful makeup is by Amanda Sharkey.
Thanks to Dave Frain for providing some excellent advice and for helping lug all the equipment around.
