Unscrew the contact screw so it does not touch the spring then screw it slowly til it touches & it shouldn't be at the tip end of the spring but around 5mm from end.The contact screw needs to touch well,another way is to place a grommet on the armature bar & run machine,look at grommet,if you see a neat figure eight as you look front on.

  2. Great video but i have one (maybe stupid) question. When you say the angle of the contactscrew should be between 25° and 30°, from where is that messured. On the diagram, the angle of the liner's contactscrew seems way bigger than the one on the shader. Is the "zero-line" horizontal or vertical? The diagram suggest horizontal, hence my confusion…

  4. lot of this stuff sounds definitive, but there is really no rules in tuning any more – it is whatever works – works. people should get in habit of calling needles "loose" and "tight" instead of "liner" and "shader"
