Extreme body art was on display at the Venezuelan Tattoo Convention 2015 on Thursday in the capital Caracas.
More than 400 tattoo artists from around the world are participating in the event, which started on Thursday and will run until Sunday.
Some of the attractions included a woman with hook hanging piercings in her back, being swayed back and forth to the beat of music.
Hawaiian Kala Kaiwi, the man with the most stretched ear lobes in the world according to The Guinness Book of World Records, was among some of the famous attendees at the convention on Thursday.
His ear lobes measure 109 millimetres (4.3 inches) in diameter.
“Took me about sixteen years to stretch to this size, so it’s not something you can do overnight,” Kaiwi said.
Well-known Venezuelan tattoo artist Yomico Moreno said that people are starting to see tattoos as an art form as it has been increasingly accepted in Venezuela.
“I think the evolution we are going through now is an important step in what we are: an artistic medium,” he said.

Local and international tattoo celebrities joined a host of aficionados from across Venezuela last Friday at the 3rd annual Venezuela International Tattoo Festival held in Caracas, which aims to spread awareness of tattoo culture in Venezuela and promote tattooing as an art form.
From forked tongues, and brow ridges, to piercings and tunnels, and of course tattoos, it was on shown off at the expo. No body part was left behind — Even eyeballs get inked up there.
My personal standout of the show has got to be a woman only known to us as the Vampire Lady. Covered from head to toe (and maybe parts unknown) with every conceivable body mod. She even managed to file her teeth down to make sure she has the look down.
… It is just a look … right!?
