Between my husband and myself we have tried almost every tattoo aftercare product on the market. This is by far the best product I have ever used. I have dry skin so the cream is best for me, but foam works best for oily skin types. The lotion works great on either small or large pieces (I have both) and has definitely helped mine to heal quicker then when I have used other aftercare products. It is definitely a good investment for any new tattoo.

Great for new tattoos, September 4, 2010

I really like this stuff. The foam is good for a week after or so. But this I like for the first week of the tattoo healing. I used Aquaphor and A&D before, cheaper alternatives. They work great but are greasy, and everything sticks to it. H2Ocean cream is nice because it is not sticky or greasy feeling – it feels cleaner than the greasy stuff, and is easier to wash off. I have a dog and cat and other creams seem to attract hair, but not H2Ocean cream. The only reason I give it 4 stars, I wish it would moisturize more, I feel like I need to apply it more than the Aquaphor. But I think that’s price to pay for a good non greasy cream. And you should be cleaning your tattoo and reapplying cream at least 3 times a day anyway.
Other reviews commented on the smell and it making their tattoo look bad. The smell issue I don’t understand. Smelling it from in the bottle, there is a light lotion type smell, not strong or bad. And I have it on my arm right now and can’t smell anything. Making the tattoo look bad I don’t get either. Maybe because it’s not greasy so it doesn’t make it look shinny. And because of it being non-greasy, you have to apply more often. I assume the reviewer that used this and the tattoo didn’t heal properly, didn’t use it often enough. Anyone can feel your skin and tell if it’s dry. That’s what you need to avoid when the tattoo is healing. I just got a sleeve tattoo on my arm 3 days ago. And I use it 3 times a day after washing, maybe 4 (because I’ll apply a little more if it’s itchy). – And it stays well moisturized.

Everybody with a tattoo or two has an opinion on what to put on them. I was a big A&D ointment guy until I discovered this stuff. It keeps your new tattoo moist, but it soaks in quickly and won’t stain your clothes or sheets like greasy stuff. I prefer the cream to the foam, because you can put it on as soon as the “oozing” stops. It feels good, no stinging. I use it 4-5 times a day until the peeling starts, then I just use it as needed for itching. It costs more than regular lotion, but you can tell the difference. It feels cleaner. You can always switch to regular lotion after you heal, but give H2Ocean a try. I think you’ll like it.
