Hey guys!

So since I just got my new tattoo finished I thought I would let you guys in on what I do to care for my tattoo during the two week healing period.

1. I always leave my bandage on for AT LEAST two hours
2. After removing the bandage I wash the tattoo immediately
3. After washing my tattoo I use a clean paper towel and pat dry
4. I wash my tattoo twice a day. Once when I wake up and once before bed.
5. For the first week I use the Eucerin Aquaphor to moisturize my tattoo. After the first week I switch to the Lubriderm Daily Moisturizer.
6. I apply moisturizer frequently throughout the day as my tattoo begins to itch or feel dry.

For the first two weeks you should keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight and out of and body of water aside from rinsing it off.
After the two weeks is up, and you spend a lot of time outside, you should invest in Coppertone Tattoo Gaurd to keep your tattoo from fading.

Disclaimer: I am in no way a professional. Everyone’s body is different and heals differently. This is simply what works best for me. If your tattoo artist gives you specific care instructions you should follow them. They know what they’re talking about, and if you’re worried they don’t…Find a new artist.

My Tattoo artist is the lovely talented Adrienne Haberl at Jersey Tattoo Company in Toms River, NJ.

The products in this video are:
Dial Gold Antibacterial UNSCENTED Soap
Eucerin’s Aquaphor Healing Cream
Lubriderm Unscented Daily Moisturizer
Coppertone Tattoo Gaurd

  1. My favourite tattoo aftercare products are Superdrug Anti-bacterial Handwash liquid soap and Palmer's Fragrance Free Cocoa Butter Formula and Bepanthen. I haven't tried After Inked, but it sounds really good as it brightens up older tattoos and it's also vegan friendly and cruelty free. :)

  2. I'm allergic to dial soap, a good replacement I use is Lush's It's Raining Men soap. It has honey which is antibacterial but is still super soothing. Granted, nothing is better than a true antibacterial, but if you're like me it's always good to have another option

  3. Thanks for the video i will definitely be purchasing that sunscreen! Quick question. Do you always have to wash your tattoo before applying moisturizer (lotion/a&d/aquaphor) or can you just put some on when it feels dry without re-washing? I just got mine about 4 days ago.

  5. I just got my first tat and I've been doing all the instructions that my artist told me to do,i even looked up other people's method of aftercare and they all seem just about the same. The area around my tattoo started to acne up and it's really worrying me. Idk if it's the fact that the aquaphor is so darn difficult to wash off that my pores clog up or the fact that I'm using the bar version of the soap you're using. I'm just throwing ideas out there, please help?
